Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome back to the 2017 – 2018 school year.  It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the newly appointed Principal of Mt. Diablo High School. Working here for the past five years as Vice-Principal, I have been able to establish awesome relationships with staff, students, and community members. I have also been fortunate to work with many different families ensuring that students are on track and reaching their goals.  As principal, I am looking forward to serving the needs of your Bay Point and Concord communities.

For over 20 years, I’ve worked on the front lines of education helping students to understand its impact on their future.  My vision is not just to prepare students for college and beyond, I also want students to walk-away from MDHS with a perseverance and grit that allows them to tackle the many road blocks they will face as they journey through life.

I also want to emphasize that my vision can not be met without the support and partnership of parents and community members. In this partnership, we need parents on the side with teachers to make sure our students are respectful, responsible, and ready to learn.

Teachers are working hard to support students with language instruction that allows students to communicate their learning. As well, they are putting in time and energy collaborating with peers on student work in order to ensure students are engaged in the classroom.

As a team of staff, students, and families, our work will be guided by the following principles: Student Centered, High Expectations, Cultural Competence, and Parent Involvement. Therefore, we welcome you onto our campus and look forward to your input on student and learning.

Looking forward to our future collaboration at the many Mt. Diablo High School events.

Yours truly,

Lorne Barbosa
